Perpetual Joy: PrayTV PGM May 27, 2020

“The Lord gives his people perpetual joy when they walk in obedience to him.” Dwight L. Moody
This Sunday, May 31, will be the celebration of Pentecost, the day when the Holy Spirit was poured out upon the 120 disciples who had obeyed the command of Jesus and waited in prayer in the Upper Room in Jerusalem.
On that day, Peter, the disciple who had denied that He even knew Jesus before the crucifixion, stood before people gathered from all over the world in Jerusalem and shared boldly as an eyewitness of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In his sermon (Acts Chapter 2), Peter quoted an Old Testament prophetic utterance about Jesus recorded by David in Psalm 16. In Acts Chapter 2, verses 25-28, Peter incorporated David’s words.... “I saw the Lord always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore, my heart is glad, and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest in hope, because You will not abandon me to the realm of the dead. You will not let Your Holy One see decay. You have made known to me the paths of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence.’”
These verses spring to life as we head towards Pentecost Sunday. If there has ever been a time when we need to see the Lord always before us, it is now! If there has ever been a time when we should not be shaken, it is now! If there has ever been a time when we should live and rest in hope, it is now!
God wants us to walk in the paths of life that He is directing us to walk in. He will show us His paths, and in His presence, we will be filled with joy.
