Star Trek Warp Core Model Build!

We 3D print put together this awesome Warp Core model kit designed by Star Trek fan Jason Anderson (aka WarpSpeed3DPrinting). This scale replica of the USS Enterprise 1701-D's warp core recreates the iconic light sequence as seen in the engineering set from the show, and Jason's LED lighting arrangement is brilliantly designed!

Thanks to Jason for sending the electronics kit!

That's all well and good until you have to deal with the inevitable warp core breach in your office at 3am

It's funny to see Adam working in the background. Glad to know there isn't just dead space, once the cameras start recording.

Norm I don't know if you read these comments but I wish there were more builds like this but what nobody talks about is the costs. Like the electronics alone is over $100 and the Resin is probably $80. It's definitely cool to build it, but when you add in paints and sand paper you are pushing $300. If you ran a successful YouTube Channel of just building things the costs associated with fabrication are really expensive. I love that your time with Adam gives you opportunities to show off your skills and that's one of the things I really love about the channel and why I subscribe.

Hey Norm, great build as always. I just wanted to note that I designed the first 3-D printable Warp Core Table lamp that was available for free online in 2014. My design had different criteria: I wanted it to be fully 3-D printable with no supports and no tooling needed afterwards. It also uses off-the-shelf blue icicle lights so that no electronics skills are necessary to get that beautiful pulsing. (I admit that this makes it not quite screen accurate, but it's still very satisfying.) Many people have built it over the years, and parts of my design that were original carry over into designs like this one. I hope others will try building it if they are intimidated by this build. It is still available for free on Thingiverse made by theplanetmike.

Yay, a Norm build. Been missing this side of Tested (still love the content we've been getting).

I purchased the Micro Enterprise-E Warp Core from Jason earlier this year and I absolutely love it! His work is great and he was extremely responsive when I needed to troubleshoot my core! Overall a great guy and product. Super happy to see him getting showcased on Tested! If this interests you order now, you won’t regret it!

I like how Adam is just working away in the background on his own thing and we're ignoring him.

I can imagine a world where the videos of the Tested crew don't "perform" as well on the Youtube Algorithm. But by golly, I love the joy. That moment where you questioned whether to test the lights--knowing how it cold just be for your own satisfaction--I love coming with other humans on that journey of creativity.

I want to see more from ALL of you, Tested Team! Kristen! How goes your Muppeteering journey??

BEAUTIFUL!!!! But I can’t help wanting to hear that warp core, “vump, vump, vump” sound in-sync with the lights sequencing. 🥰🥰

Excellent choice of paint. I love the speckled metallic look. Feels very Galaxy Class. May you never suffer a core breach and have to eject your core. Cheers!

Nice! This reminds me of the warp core from the Star Trek Generations Engineering Playset by Playmates.

This is so cool! I’ve always loved that warp core, ever since I first got into Trek when TNG first started. The model you made looks so spot-on and I had a big smile on my face when you first powered it on.😁👏😎

Great build video Norm. Add the sound and this would be the greatest white noise machine ever.
