"I'm not too hopeful for mankind", so to speak.

At the bare minimum read Hoppe's "Democracy: The God That Failed", "What Must Be Done", "The Economics and Ethics of Private Property", and his sequel to the first Liberal Anarchist Gustave Demolinari's works called "The Myth of National Defense" and you'll see where he's coming from.

Another recommendation is to read his articles "Small is Beautiful and Efficient: The Case for Secession" and "The Ultimate Justification of the
Private Property Ethic" for the best grasp of what he's saying, what he's trying to teach you, and what he's advocating for everyone to know, understand, and conduct your purposeful actions on.

I've seen a lot of his lectures and talks, and seen a lot of videos and whatnot about him and his contributions, and lot of his books are in my "to read" list; he's pretty great. I started reading Democracy The God that Failed a few days ago and, even tough I was already familiar with his points and the arguments against democracy, the book is still excelent and compelling to read. Even the first chapter is filled with so much content, each page is a different argument, quite amazing.

So I recently had a coversation with someone who described himself as an ancap, yet he knew nothing about the subject and even supported slavery. Maybe these are the people we are compared to?
Here is what he said in response to a Spooner quote:

"Let me explain: My problem with Spooner's quote is that humans(especially males) are conditioned to act in groups ruled by a leader. That's biologival and can't be denied. The beauty of ancap-ism is that you are free to choose the said leader, not like in ancom-ism and the others. Our problem with the state derives from the fact that it pleases only part of the population at best and none at worst, as far as the master is concerned. NOT the idea of a master in itself.
I don't necessarely disagree with slavery for a number of reasons. One of them is that when they are freed, they create more problems than solutions(in the current system). If they were to be slaves and then exist as workers in an ancap society and work for their bread, that would be ok."

How can someone like that think he is an anarcho capitalist? Thats like calling myself a vegetarian while eating a ham-sandwich!

Though I am familiar with the term "Rothbardian", this is the first time I've heard the word "Misesian".  It is now a permanent part of my vocabulary.

Maybe I am being too unprofessional and irrational, but the more I read the Professor, the more I feel like a father figure is lovingly giving me knowledge. His lectures are like a meditation to me.

I am not even 1% white. I do not understand how some people can think of the dear Professor as a white supremacist.

A chapter in a book I am currently working on aims to explain and analyze Hoppe's Argumentation Ethics. I hope to have it out by the end of this year (2017).

Dr. Woods could have chosen a better analogy to draw from than Fred Foldvary's comparison to hotel stay.  A common complaint among consumers is how some hotels nickel and dime the guest for every little thing.  As the lodger's rhetorical question to the hotel's front desk attendant conveys,  "When do I stop paying?."

I often go to the show notes and will sometimes go further such as buying books, and checking out more videos. But this is the first time i feel intimidated. Even though im pretty sure i already own a Hoppe book, yet i havent read it. I do want to buy Democracy the God that Failed, so perhaps its time i got on that.

Edit and now that i think about it ive seen many Hans lectures in the past and enjoyed them, i dont know why im feeling so intimidated. Hans is great

Can someone here explain to me (or tell me which book to read) how a society can have laws but not government? Who gets to decide these laws? Surely not everyone in the society would agree to and consent to these laws. A law without a consequence backing it doesn't really exist. Isn't the entity enforcing these laws by definition a government?

It's funny how true it is about Hoppe not being read by his defenders and critics.

I see the "privatize everything" crowd completely unaware that the characteristics of many private goods can also be valued as public goods.

I imagine that slogan is uninviting to a wide demographic of statists.

Private/ public goods is a false dichotomy after all.

I think the term Anarcho-Capitalist is very important and needs to be discussed over whether or not it is anarchy or like anarchy. The term anarchy can be very confusing. This needs to be fleshed out. I don't consider Anarcho-Capitalism actual anarchy but rather of or like anarchy. Anarchy-esque if you will.
