🚀 Encryption levels go above and beyond - Next level XChaCha20 algorithm

Did the Nord team manage to create an industry-leading password manager NordPass?
The Nord team stands behind one of the best VPNs on the market, but did they do an equally good job with their password manager? In this NordPass review I will take you through everything you need to know about it: does it have any new features or capabilities that others lack, is NordPass safe, and how does it compare to industry leaders?

FULL TUTORIAL on how to use it START at 3:22

NordPass is a solid password manager that has a lot of important security features. Encryption levels go above and beyond. AES 256-bit is the current industry standard, but NordPass uses the next level XChaCha20 algorithm. The NordPass free version has the same tight encryption and zero knowledge architecture, it’s also safe. There are some drawbacks to the service too. There is no competitive short term pricing plan, no attachment function for notes, a somewhat limited autofill, and no Safari imports.

It compares favorably with top of the line password managers such as Dashlane, LastPass and RoboForm not only in functionality, but also in pricing, offering quite a good deal on the outstanding password protection. However, other password managers have a more complete auto fill function. RoboForm is missing a data breach alert tool, overall it’s a little more basic than NordPass. Dashlane instantly notifies you if your data is breached, plus it comes with a built-in VPN, so as far as security goes it’s more advanced. It also allows you to add attachments to your notes.

Love the Content just bought NordVPN and NordPass a couple days ago and love it. Also just to mention I think NordPass said the reason why it has a limited autofill is because of security reasons.

I have tried out Nordpass. It's not for me:

1. Logging into Nordpass requires logging into Nord first. That's two logins to get to your password vault. No really good reason this has to be the case.
2. There is no support for nested folders, and no support for tags.
3. There is no support for custom fields. If you have a second password to enter, or have to supply answers to security questions, you'll have to do it all from the Notes field. This is inconvenient, inelegant, and clumsy.
4. In order to use the browser extension, you need to have the Nordpass desktop application installed and running. This is silly and wasteful. If I want to use the browser extension, I want to use the browser extension only. I shouldn't need to have something else running, too.
5. At $36/year, it's competing directly with 1Password on price. 1Password supports tags (and nested tags), custom fields, has a built-in TOTP generator, and doesn't require you to install the desktop application in order to use the browser extension. There is only one login to worry about, although it does require you to have the "secret key" in order to log in on an untrusted device. This is a pretty cool security feature, protecting you from anyone trying to log into your account from their own device. The interface is equally pretty and elegant, as well as being about the snappiest (quick response and form-fill) of any password manager I have tried.

If you want to spend $36/yr on a password manager, sign up for 1Password. If you want to save a buck, go with Bitwarden. It has very good browser integration, supports custom fields and nested folders, only requires a single login, and doesn't require you to use the desktop application. It's not as pretty as Nordpass, but it is much more functional. At $10/yr, it's a seriously underrated bargain.
