Easy Sew Beach Hat

This easy-sew beach hat is a great sewing project for beginner to intermediate sewists. Choose a fun cotton fabric in a summery print, or pick out two that coordinate for the inside and outside of your hat. If you've never worked with interfacing before, this project will introduce you to that step, which results in a brim for your sun hat that has more structure and will maintain its shape. This beach hat project is also great for practicing notching and sewing curved seams. To anyone considering making this, the finished hat is way too small to fit an adult! It’s good enough to fit a small child.

Did you use some kind of stiffening inside of it for the brim or some kind of interfacing to stiffen it? What kind?

Wonder if I could make slits on the sides to allow a face mask ear loops to slide through and buttons to hook on to? I work out in 110 degree heat for school district food service.

This was way too fast to be helpful for me as a beginner. I slowed down the speed but it didn't really help me to see what I needed to see to piece together the parts I needed. I am working from a Vogue 7728 hat pattern but I can't find help for getting the hat right.

Reviews on the pattern page say this will only fit a child with a six inch head. Disappointing that there are no enlargement instructions.
