Colorado joined seven other states in having an official state mushroom.

On Monday, Governor Jared Polis signed HB25-1091 into law. The bill designates the Agaricus julius mushroom, commonly known as the Emperor mushroom, as the state mushroom for Colorado. The bill was sponsored by state Rep. Jacque Phillips, D-Thornton, and state Senator Kyle Mullica.

Mr. Clark, I am that Civics teacher from Horizon High School (Greg Sanchez) who was one of the people behind the effort to pass the state mushroom bill. It was part of a lesson on how students can influence their democracy with Civic Engagement. Our lawmakers stepped up and took a big risk in sponsoring this bill. Horizon students played an important part in the process as well. Part of the effort was to also raise serious awareness to the importance of fungi and mushrooms in Colorado’s environment. I am a huge fan of your work and would love to share more about the rationale behind this important and historic effort.

Given than Colorado has five animals, four plants, three "rocks", and one dinosaur as their state symbol, it's HIGH TIME a mushroom was included. For those who understand immense importance of fungi, and how most of the above state symbols wouldn't exist without fungi, this is a sweet, SWEET, moment.
Thank you to everyone who made this happen.

Lol...i guess it's better than voting on more unconstitutional gun control or setting up more kickback graft...
