In this video, I changed the PDK automatic transmission fluid and the final drive gear oil on a 2012, Porsche 911 (991.1)

Final drive gear oil is 75W-90 full synthetic race oil, like Motul Gear 300 or Porsche p/n 105777. 3 liters needed.

Fill hole screw (8mm hex) torque 20ftlb.

Differential space drain screw torque (5mm hex) 7.5 ftlb

Gearwheel set space drain screw torque (8mm hex) 20 ftlb

PDK ATF ( Clutch fluid) Porsche p/n 00004330513 or Pentosin FFL-3 Synthetic. 6 liter capacity but likely will need just 4 or 5 liters.

Porsche PDK pan/filter. A generic filter is also offered on Amazon and Ebay, some including the pricey little bolts you need, since the original aluminum bolts aren't strong enough to be torqued twice. Will need 13 new pan bolts p/n PAF-009-388 (old p/n 9G1-321-801-00). These bolts are M6-1.0×25 with a 18mm wide flange head.

PDK drain pan bolt torque 11ftlb + 2ftlb

Fill hole screw torque 20ftlb.

Porsche pdk fluid is the same as Pentosin and Fuchs Titan FFl 3. The ZF oil pan for the pdk is the same as the Porsche as ZF made the pan.

Thanks Jack for your quick response. I appreciate your thoughts! You are a very brave DIY’er with drilling and tapping those pan bolts. I will definitely use the liquid wrench approach to try to avoid a possible problem but now I have an idea how repair if liquid wrench fails me 😅

Thanks for putting this together. I just did PDK and rear gear oil on a friend’s C4, along with front differential and AWD clutch.

I'm in the UK and this was a great video and straight forward instructions for the competent DIY folk amongst us, why pay stealer prices if you're able yourself ? concise and easily understood directions, many thanks from across the pond .

Lengthy, but excellent description of what to do for the service.

What a great video, thanks! Two questions re the pdk clutch fluid change: Do you really need to remove the read drain plug (5 mm), since it is located higher than the front drain plug (8 mm). Or are there two different chambers? If you fill in exactly the same volume as you pour out, why do you then need to measure the temperature after filling in? I´ve got a 991.2 GT3

Hey Jack. May I ask what car lift do you have? Rough cost and do you recommend it? Also what ceiling height is required. Ty

I think you missed filling the rear diff fill spot on top. I kept the 5mm drain out but put the larger 8mm drain plug back in and as I filled 2.7 liter nothing dripped out of the small 5mm drain plug so the oil isn’t getting to that area.

Hi Jack, thank you for such a helpful video. Can you explain how the trans and diff share the reservoir without the two fluids cross contaminating?

Hello Jack, thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge of changing out the tranny fluids. I'm about to tackle this same project on my 991.1, too. I am wondering how you went about removing the 3 broken off studs from the drain pan? Much appreciated!Mike O

would have been good to see you do the work

is it the same procedure for the 991.2?
Also, is the final drive gear oil shared with the differential?
I see folks replacing the gear and clutch oil but never talk about the rear differential so im assuming that it shares the same fluid as the gear oil?

Great video Jack!
I'll have to watch this again and concentrate more, I was getting a little confused on the two different fluid changes. I do have some questions though.
What tool did you use to measure the temp for the PDK fluid and final drive gear fluid?
This question is in regards to the PDCC...Do you have a video on how to service it?
As well as the AOS, how to change it out?
I have worked on a Porsche before, but it was oil cooled, a 1984 Carrera, it seems to be a whole lot different than this one! My current Porsche is a 911 Carrera S 2012 991.1 with PDK.
Thanks for the videos!

Don't you need to engage the "fill" on the PDK?

Can you confirm that in the 991 GT3 and GT3RS the final drive fill boilt is not a H8 allen bolt but a Banjo Bolt?
