Border Ranges, Bruxner Hwy, Kyogle Road

Показать описание
Day 5 — QLD April Ride; Bruxner Hwy, Border Ranges — blending great bitumen with stunning gravel riding.
Tenterfield has a lot going for it, surrounded by plenty of nice gravel roads and has one of NSW's best roads, the Bruxner Hwy at its doorstep. We had a fantastic run down the Bruxner which boasts undulating twisties for nearly 50km to Drake. Shortly after we turned onto Tabulam Rd which becomes Clarence Way, and initially we thought it was looking great. This didn’t last long — after a while, we were greeted with km's of Dungog patching & potholes. This could be an amazing road — there is work in progress, but there are still tons of wheel busters!
After coffee at the Pitstop Cafè (Woodenbong), it’s a lovely ride on Summerland Way (giving the local Hwy Patrol a wave, parked in the Rukinvale 50-zone) to Wiangaree where we turned off to the Border Ranges on Lynches Creek Road.
The Border Ranges is an amazing, beautiful rainforest National Park that has a single-lane dirt and gravel road, which is a must-do ride. The views from both the Pinnacle and Blackbutt Lookouts are stunning and educational. This was the highlight of the day, maybe better than the Bruxner.
Afterwards, we continued on Kyogle Rd where we said goodbye to Steven, Brian & Stewart and continued on via Numbinbah Rd to Hope Island to visit the family.
Kyogle Rd, Numbinbah Rd and Nerang-Murwillumbah Rd are all beautiful, twisty, undulating roads sharing enough road work signs to make the signage company rich.
