The adjustment system isn't stupid. What is being adjusted is tension and center piece travel.
Increasing a number increases each of these respectively. So of course, increasing tension makes the cube tighter, and increasing center piece travel makes it looser, because you are increasing the amount the center piece can travel.

1:30 it is actually not that stupid. The numbers are not based on tightness, they are based on distance from the core. A higher number means that it is further from the core.

I think the numbers on Gan adustment systems are more so about 'raising' each component. Raise the bottom Maglev ring, therefore closer to the top ring = more compressed/tight. Raise the 'screw'/top ring = looser, more distance from the core.

Man, I would be so basic on my comment, but I like your review on the Gan 15 THE MOST, it isn't fast talking, it isn't crazy lens-shifting effect capcut thingy, try-hard iNfLuEnCeRs vibez, like the big names are trying to do now, it makes me feel review videos are review videos: simple, informative, not even boring since you splitted the screen for the setup and the solves altogether, this is what a video should be really about. I kinda had feeling for Gan 15, I am using 13, considering an upgrade ( don't know should I even wait for Gan 16 if they ever come aha), but after watching people's video I got fed up for months until I saw your video today, I love it so much, subscribed !
P/S: And man, how did you get so crazily good, your sovles scored around 5-6 seconds, I am trying to move from 8 down to 7 right now, been getting some improvement, but man, your is just immensely amazing
