As I've gotten older, I've come to appreciate The Village People more. Not because of campiness, but because they seem extremely straightforward and joyful. Maybe counterintuitively, it's a total lack of pretentiousness. So many people so desperately need that. I'm not being judgmental. It's just otherwise hard to know yourself and be happy.

It's funny how when I was a kid (6-7 YO) my father would sometimes play this song and do a goofy dance for me. Now my dad was a manly man, grew up in the streets before he became a boxing champion and eventually coach. He loved this song and i could see that he wished me to become a "Macho Man" myself, like him, like this song. I'm not sure if he knew anything about the Village People, though, because if he didn't, now THAT would be funny.

You can say what you want about the village people but they're one of my favorite groups they were unique very very talented telling that we haven't seen every song they made macho Man YMCA I love them you know and not only did they know how to sing they were a sight village people thank you for your talent that you gave us people on this planet we love you we miss you God bless you and your family
