I was a little kid during this era. Guys like The Boz and Bo were literal super heroes. There were no highlights back in the day like today. Everything was word of mouth like, "Did you hear what did?".... They became legends in our minds. Even if they weren't always truly legends on the field!

Brian Bosworth quote "No athlete is an athlete with the intention of being a bust, I have more metal in me than the Terminator." The man was derailed by injuries, when healthy the Boz was a BEAST. It was very unfair how his pro ball career went down...

To clarify as an Oklahoma fan, The Boz is still loved in Norman and by Oklahoma Sooner fans. He regularly appears on campus during home games and shows up at events dealing with the football team or just Oklahoma Athletics in general.

The 30 for 30 on The Boz was something I really enjoyed when I was younger. Glad you're covering him, another great video

He is also the sheriff in fansville(the college football Dr. Pepper commercials)

If Boz played today, he would get a kick of the NIL deals.

Selling anti-yourself t-shirts is a 🐐 move in my book.

If Boz wasn't playing on astroturf, he probably would have had a nice 7 year NFL career. Sadly the Seahawks played on that in the Kingdome plus at Arrowhead for the Chiefs until after the 1993 season. So that's 10 games minimum. I am not saying he was going to be a all pro, but he could of have a nice career. At least we can see him as the sheriff in the Dr. Pepper Fansville commercials.

Boz truly is a product of the 80s. I grew up in those days and in a time where you got three channels over the air and maybe Sporting News or Sports Illustrated in the mail...he was everywhere. Almost as much as Phil Collins, who also only could have been huge in the 80s.

He definitely seems like a man who grew up, got rid of that persona and became a stand up human. And as a Bronco hater in the 80s, I do love how he played the fans and got John Elway all bent out of shape.

The Boz cut was pretty dope honestly. Reminds me of Wild thing from Major League.

If getting run over by Bo makes you a bust. Then almost every defensive player in the 80’s is a bust. The dude was a beast. Injuries cut his career short. Healthy. He was a great. And as a kid growing up in the 80’s, he was one of the superheroes.

For a kid growing up in the 80’s, I can tell you The Boz and The Rocket Ismail defined my love for college football. Such excitement tuning into games back in the day when only a few games/week were actually televised nationally. And those 80’s Miami teams that everybody loved to hate. An awesome era in college football when a guy would normally stay for 4 years and dominate year after year. And the excitement of New Years Day when there were about 87 bowl games. A lot of us have a lot of core memories from that time.

Good video. Thanks for sharing. I was 15 in 1986 and I had a Boz cut. He was not a bust. He was probably the best LB in college football history. He played well in the pros. His body just gave out. FTR, Bo didn't run over Boz, he pulled him in. Mike Singletary couldn't have stopped Bo on that play.

Started playing football at 10 yrs old in 1983 in Norman OK. To say the Boz was an influence is an understatement. Good times for me and the university of Oklahoma.

The first OU game I went to was Nebraska in 1985. I lived about 30-45 minutes away from Norman. The next Monday we went back to Norman to the mall because I wanted a 44 jersey and in my mind one that came from Norman was real but one from Oklahoma City wasn’t. At the mall I saw The Boz. I was in awe and waved at him. Dude came over and talked to me for about ten minutes. No reason for him to do that other than he knew who he was and what he meant to kids in the area. Guy was two different people, the Boz was bigger than life and in your face. Brian was just a good guy living life in the shadow of his alter-ego.

Crazy he built his brand like he did in that time. Very rare compared to today.

17:20 Damn shoulders...
Also, this guy's ability to play a different and flamboyant character in media appearances makes me think he could've been a star in the late Golden Era of WWF (now WWE).

"Stone Cold" is such an amazing B action movie. I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it.

Im a Texan and couldnt believe he chose Oklahoma.
I became one of his biggest fans.
I played defense in highschool.
Never cared much for offense.
Lawerence Taylor was in the league at that time.
Boz scored a big contract and played well until he couldn't.
We are still the cool kids
GenX Forever!!
