Creating the Logic - Lesson 8 (2024 / SwiftUI)

Learn how to write code that can make decisions! Using conditional logic, we can run different code depending on the situation. In Swift, this is done with IF statements. Lets implement this in our War Card Game to randomize the cards and increment the scores.

This video series will teach a beginner with no programming experience how to make iPhone apps. I'm creating these videos with the assumption that the student has no prior knowledge and is starting from scratch.

You are such a good teacher. You recognize the level of your students and you do such as nice job of bringing the code to their level of understanding

Just finished all 8 episodes, one of the best online tutorials. Finished 8 lessons. Wish I had a teacher like you when I was learning JS

This is genuinely the best explanation of if statements that I've heard so far. Really great beginner-level stuff, Chris!

Dear Chris, thank you so much for these lessons! I'm a computer science student at uni but have never gotten hands on experience in mobile development. Your videos and your teaching style are so supportive, encouraging and easy to follow. Can't wait for whatever content you release next! I'll be here to learn as much as I can from you!

Great timing :) I followed along all of this playlist just today and this final part came out 45 minutes ago! it was such a comfortable introduction to xcode and ios development, you were such a wonderful teacher it was so easy and fun (and i have ADHD so that means a lot)!

I've gone through this one lesson per day, and finished Lesson 7 yesterday, perfect timing! I was wondering what I'd do without this series!

I'm a pretty confident programmer but work with web-based languages like PHP and such, so I already had the programming skills to fly through a lot of the 'logic' type code. However, I've never used XCode before and have never touched app development, I must say that these videos have made it more than simple to jump straight to develop some simple little projects and learn the basics of XCode. Amazing creator, superb content.

Great example, great teaching, calm voice. Thank you very much. Always wanted to start with xcode and finally you made it happen. Looking forward seeing the next chapters.

Just finished, and this was one of the best tutorial series I've ever watched (coding or not) I'm annoyed it took me a bit to find you, as all the other Swift "beginner" tutorials are just info dumps. This was super easy to follow, and its so much easier to retain the knowledge when you're actually applying it to a project, not JUST doing stuff in the playgrounds.

Well done!

What a great series! At University i had to start with Java a few years ago aaaand boy I hated it :D Then PHP came in and I knew "this is where I am home". Now I am working as a Software Developer at a small company in Stuttgart Germany feeling more safely monthy by month. Till now I tried to get into Swift development once or twice but i never got that "you are home" feeling I had with PHP. But after THIS course I finally have a small app running and I am happy. If some day my company should decide to make our programms available as native app I can say "hey i know some Swift stuff" and maybe my company will get us access to your paid courses as well! I'll defenetively will recommend you!

Off to the menue app.

Vielen Dank!

Thank you so much for these lessons, Chris! I'm a programmer and want to start developing my own apps in macOS, but I didn't know anything about XCode and Swift. These tutorials were very helpful.

Chris, I'm heading over to your site now to create an account! Your teaching style is amazing and I can't thank you enough for the confidence you've given me around creating an app. I found you because I have a spreadsheet which uses a bunch of nested IFs and some vlookups and thought "this would be really handy as an app" but had no idea where to get started. I still have some learning to do but I think I can say with confidence now, I'll post a link on the forum when its done 🙂. Thank you again!

I remember how exited I was when I knew about Xcode 10 years ago and how hard I tried to learn it by myself. I didn't know how to setup and it was far too slow for me so I quitted. Today I just followed your lessons and succeed with ease. I am so proud! Thank you! :) ( I had to add .buttonStyle(.borderless) to make my image button show up properly. It took me nearly an hour to figured it out haha but It was a great fun!)
