It really does look like a Greek word, I guess it's due to those Y's.

Funnily enough the letter Y is called "igrek" in Polish – there's a hidden Greek man (Grek) in there! LOL

If I'm not mistaken, the Romans named it that way cause they used the letter in words borrowed from Greek.

I thought they meant "My Homies" but it was one of those crossword clues where they misspell something to make it work. So instead of "homies" they wrote "homys."
