The College Board Monopoly on Education

The College Board owns the AP, PSAT and SAT tests, which brings in millions in profit every year. And behind this monopoly is the fact that these companies really sell to schools, not students.

In College Board's AP US History course, you learn about the Gilded age and monopolies in the late 1800s, and how harmful they can become. Quite ironic.

paying $90 for a single question online question is mentally insane. AP 2020 is even worse.

There are no words for how much I hate the Collegeboard

You’d be hard pressed to find a high school or college student that doesn’t have a deep rooted hate for College Board

And now in 2020 we pay for a test that is only one question and that also fully decides on whether or not we get college credit. Smh

Edit: bro I’ve never gotten this many likes 😂

As an American, this video is completely accurate. I don't see how anyone can justify what College Board is doing.

What has the world come to, when a company can just monopolize young people's futures?

Does anyone realized that the only reason they're doing tests this year (despite this whole COVID-19 situation) is because they're greedy as hell. It makes no sense to take those tests. What if someone is really smart but has no reliable internet connection?

My main issue with the SAT is that it doesn't actually measure intelligence. It measures how good you are at taking the SAT.

They keep charging us more for college, but when we eventually can't pay for it anymore, then they'll complain when it's their fault.

i am a senior in high school. i registered for six AP exams, costing around $500. to literally take a test. in my opinion, standardized tests should be free or significantly cheaper. smart kids who cant afford absurd fees miss out significantly. we need more competition!!

You forgot to mention how it’s puts low income students at a disadvantage because they may only be able to afford to take a small number of tests. Of course colleges look for students that have took more AP classes because it shows they can “afford” to pay 🤷🏽‍♀️

Guys, please donate to khanacademy, at least they try to make this sort of process cheaper, like cutting down the necessity of buying the insanely high priced practice books

AP classes are worth paying for, but SATs should be free as they are basically required.

As a person who's taken AP, SAT, ACT and IB, it's insane to think that our education is being profited by guys who sit at desks in suits. For many of us, we don't have a choice but to take the SAT and ACT because our career choice requires college. some people can't afford to take the SAT and ACT, which in turn hurts their career and college education.

Can you expose Pearson now? Or even talk about what happened this year in 2020, where Collegeboard took our money, then reduced the test to one or two questions, no regard for a refund?
