The problem is not the immigration. It the lack of infrastructure to accommodate the influx. Having the private sector pick up the slack has been a dismal failure. They are concern with profit not societal needs. The federal and provincial governments should have step in to insure the infrastructure was being built, ensuring societal needs. This would have stabilized the housing market to keep them affordable as a consequence keeping rents reasonable.
