NASA | Glacial Ice Loss: Himalayas

In the first comprehensive satellite study of its kind, a University of
Colorado Boulder-led team used NASA data to calculate how much Earth's
melting land ice is adding to global sea level rise. This animation shows
the average yearly change in mass, as measured by the NASA/German Aerospace
Cetner Gravity Recovery And Climate Experiment (GRACE) satellite mission.
The animation shows ice loss over the Indian subcontinent, as measured in
centimeters of water, from 2003 to 2010. The yellow circles mark locations
of glaciers. There is significant mass loss in this region (denoted by the
blue and purple colors), but it is concentrated over the plains south of the
glaciers, and is caused by groundwater depletion. A colorbar overlay shows
the range of values displayed.

@WaxItYourself That is the most optimistic view that I have seen. Good luck with that. One thing about humans is CERTAIN. We do NOT learn from our mistakes and are self destructive. If man is adaptable it will be to promote that goal.

@AishThaks2 ** I'd cite a source or two but I've run out of time to be here at the moment. If you respond I'll be more likely remember to do that later. :)

@AishThaks2 And to add one more thing, don't you think it's rather ironic that you say NASA's money should go to correcting environmental problems in the comments section of a video that proves NASA is concerned about the environment and studying it very closely? NASA isn't just about astronomy. NASA is also committed to utilizing the great vantage point of space to improve life on Earth through the invaluable aid of Satellite monitoring and study aboard the ISS.**

It is true that this has happened before in history but NOT when man was here and that was a time of intense volcanic activity. This is the very first time that the climate has been affected by...MAN and since man will likely cease to exist then it will be the last. It is truly sad that the only known instance of man in the universe has committed suicide due to ignorance and greed. SIN is a fatal disease.

Obviously, this can all be fixed with prayer meetings.

@AishThaks2 If you think that way, assuming you have a computer on your desk, why didn't you feed bunch of homeless people instead of buying a computer? Don't blame an organization. WE (you I everyone else) are the building blocks of any organization in the world. Why don't YOU start an organization that takes care of homeless people?

@WaxItYourself Well time will tell who is right but I suspect that you are not. I hope that I am wrong. Sorry about the atheist thing. Let me know if you have doubts about that. You seem intelligent and respectful so let me send you to an intelligent and respectful source which is CS Lewis. His work "Mere Christianity" IMHO says it best but his short story "The Screwtape Letters" is far more chilling and dramatic. BOTH are in spoken versions on youtube.
Keep your knickers dry.
