The developers of the BMW M3 and M4 have the floor. No frills; just information — first-hand from those who know best. In Episode 6, Juergen talks about the brakes of the new M vehicles.

BMW M3 Competition / BMW M4 Competition:
Fuel consumption in l/100 km (combined): 10.2. CO2 emissions in g/km (combined): 234.
BMW M3 / BMW M4::
Fuel consumption in l/100 km (combined): 10.8. CO2 emissions in g/km (combined): 248.

The values of fuel consumptions, CO2 emissions and energy consumptions shown were determined according to the European Regulation (EC) 715/2007 in the version applicable at the time of type approval.

The figures refer to a vehicle with basic configuration in Germany and the range shown considers optional equipment and the different size of wheels and tires available on the selected model. The values of the vehicles are already based on the new WLTP regulation and are translated back into NEDC-equivalent values in order to ensure the comparison between the vehicles. [With respect to these vehicles, for vehicle related taxes or other duties based (at least inter alia) on CO2-emissions the CO2 values may differ to the values stated here.] The CO2 efficiency specifications are determined according to Directive 1999/94/EC and the European Regulation in its current version applicable. The values shown are based on the fuel consumption, CO2 values and energy consumptions according to the NEDC cycle for the classification.

Rear brake calliper is too small. On a well balanced car such as the M3, the rear brakes actually take heavy loads. That’s why there’s a 370mm rear disk, but a single pot tiny calliper? I don’t get it.

Why does the rear calipers are looking so ugly and cheap at the new models (also on M5 F90 and other brands e.g. Audi RS6) compared to the former model generations? Cost savings (sold as weight savings :DD) ? Even on my M135i (F21) it looks better.

I know it must be very good but the rear brake caliper looks cheap as hell compared to the rest of the package.

Gibt es eigentlich auch Bremssättel, die beidseitig die Scheibe umschließen oder würden die zu heiß laufen?

He forgot to mention, the ceramic brake not only can do what the standard compound brake can do, just a bit better, ALSO A LOT LOUDER AND MORE SQUEAK !

BMW brakes are great for day-to-day driving and they work when you need them to and they work well but they don’t even compare to Porsche brakes on track or fast road
