This song topped the country album charts and peaked at #49 on Billboard. Not bad for a song Waylon wrote as a joke. He wrote it like that because it just made no sense at all. He said that on tv one time when he sang it to Jessie Colter. "I just wrote a song that makes no dam sense at all, it wasnt meant to be anything more than a joke song really' and look where it went!

Actually, in the verse that starts around 1:48 the line is, "I was trifling when I met her now I'm trifling again.."

Ya know, because he's talking about committing adulatory here. Anyway... Other than that, great job!
