If you read the Bible closely Jacob did not confess or repented. the man who wrestle with him hit him on the hip that disabled him and after that blessed him. God had to wrestle with Jacob because Jacob had doubts about God promise. So God has to wrestle him and teach him a lesson. Jacob permanently limps because of that injury. Sometimes God will wrestle with us and gives us a jab if we still doubt him. And that pain from his jab will remind us that he is in control and not us.
