Yesterday I discovered Xbox cloud gaming - I had a 3 month game pass subscription with some hardware I bought and it blew me away. I just loaded Assassin's Creed Origins on my Samsung S20!

Madness.

If you told me about these services when I was a kid I would never believe crazy how far we've come with gaming and how accessible it's become!

For people with poor internet connections, I'd say no. Even with a good connection you can't own the games and its a generally worse experience if you have half decent hardware.

I have a Samsung Monitor and I play Xcloud and GeForce Now and personally I find Xcloud has a better connection and less lag than GeForce Now. The technology do is simply amazing no download, no install, no updates just play right away 😊👍👌

I think ultimate is the best bang for your buck if you don't own a console or any games. The library alone is enough reason to consider game pass ultimate.

The fact that "remote display of someone else's GPU output" is (apparently?) a viable architecture option is blowing my freakin' mind right now. Thanks for the survey of Xbox vs. Sony vs. Nvidia service options; really informative vid.

There's a big catch with GeForce Now. It can stream in 4k 120Hz which feels fantastic imo but you need a good *decoder* on your device. For example smart TVs can't run the service at 4k 120hz at all. Most of them struggle with 1080p 60Hz and add massive input lag.

Besides that I truly believe that it can replace someones PC or console in a lot of cases. Depending on your connection the input lag isn't too bad at all and they've come a long way. I can even play FPS games fine, but there is a slight hit in K/D so obviously not recommended for competitive players.

i was very much in the, "laugh at stadia and could gaming", group. shit happened. my pc is in storage and i have a potato laptop. cloud gaming is insanely good. there are issues here and there. but its way way better than i expected.

Yeah I'm using GeforceNow at the moment. It's still not like a local machine. 120 fps stream feels rather like 60 fps with stutters here and there but still, it is a good option for singleplayer titles if you wait for new hardware to come out or just don't really care about high refresh gaming.

I sold all my consoles and picked up a razer edge with game pass for PC and GeForce now. No regrets I play BO6 and I don't feel I'm at a disadvantage

The quality of Cloud Gaming experience depends on the internet connection a lot, and that’s the fundamental problem which is really hard to solve.
For example, I think cloud gaming is really a good option in Korea, because we could usually play the games with 5ms of ping - which is absolutely smooth that we could play Lies of P, the game which needs an accurate response.

Had Ultimate Gamepass since mid-July. Been mostly playing Halo on it so I can't give a fair assessment on how good the whole service is. But if you're someone who hasn't gamed in a while and want to play your favourite titles, then Gamepass is pretty solid. It gave me a solid 4 months of Halo + a bunch of other stuff to pick out whenever Im bored. Saved me a ton of money on a console.

Only downsides are the occasional lag/latency. Also decision-fatigue - sometimes Ill find myself scrolling through the "All Games" section for 30min just looking at all the games. But even that; it's fun to read the descriptions and learn about what type of games I have available.

I am so glad I gave cloud gaming a shot. I do have a great PC with a 4080, but I am on Linux and I am tired of dual booting into Windows on the rare occasion that I feel like playing some Destiny 2. I can finally play it on Geforce Now and it actually looks and runs insanely good on wifi w/ Fiber. I only play it for a couple weeks every few months, so dual booting into Windows never made much sense for me, personally. I can free up all that space now and use that drive for something else.

I was really intrigued for the playstation one, but nevermind too many restrictions, decided to go with game pass i paid less than $100 and get 1 year subscription, and next month you can cloud your own game in it, more than happy.

Agree geforce now is king of cloud gaming!

In terms of how stable the experience is

Even on lower speed connections 9:50

To be fair to Luna and yes I'm a casual gamer you did not test Luna with the Amazon Controller that does not use Bluetooth and connects directly to WiFi which compared to all the other services which I've tried is the absolute best when it comes to Latency. And Luna is still at it's infancy when it comes to games. But yes with Luna use a Luna Controller you'll see the big difference

Would be interesting to have a test of this on a Starlink setup in a remote area.

I got a new Samsung TV and tried game pass on it and was amazed. It's really come on. There's no lag, although I have a 300mbps connection. But yeah it's quite incredible nowadays.
