This was one of two follow-up cuts from Carl Carlton's charting single, Everlasting Love, from his Everlasting Love album (1974). Carlton's cover of songwriter Dennis Belfield's work was released the same year as Rufus (feat. Chaka Kahn) released the same title on their Rags to Rufus album.

I'm sayin, AGAIN, in 2022, it's still gettin' after it. Old Skool Still Rules. Get all you can, while you can.

One of my Carl Carlton favorites. Very underrated jam. Used to give it repeated spins way back when. Still sounds good in 2016.

Great song indeed, one of my faves from the 70s. Couldn't remember who sang it or the lyrics, but the melody popped into my head today and I just keyed "ain't saying I'm right" into one of those Song Lyrics Web sites and it popped right up. Thanks for posting!

Good version, but I like the version done by Rufus. However, it was written by Dennis Belfield (who was also the original bass player for Rufus before Bobby Watson replaced him). Dennis played on both versions, and this one is good.

I prefer Chaka Khans version he's good at singing dance numbers I don't think he could do ballads a great song deserves a great singer he was always very gimmicky
