The threat of Christian Nationalism looms large as MAGA Republicans try desperately to erode the separation of church and state. However, it seems like a lot of the Americans who claim to be Christian Nationalists have no idea what it would mean for the country. The Damage Report's John Iadarola breaks it down.

I liked something Jimmy Carter said long ago, that America needs to stop saying it's a Christian Nation because a Christian Nation would be housing the homeless, feeding the hungry, and otherwise helping poor people

There's no hatred quite like Christian love.

I’m not even Christian anymore, but even I know,

“It’s easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.”

People who worship trump as a genius businessman seem to forget that one.

America is not a Christian nation but a nation where you are free to practice Christianity 🤷🏻

I am Catholic. I don't think Religion should be in schools. They have Sunday schools for that.

My uncles were atheists but some of the most moral people I know. They did not need Christianity to be good people.

We were never a "Christian" nation. Our founders tried desperately to NOT have a national religion. They fled the church of England. We have freedom of and FROM religion.

America was founded on FREEDOM of religion. How can so many people be so ignorant?

Instead of a "Christian nation", how about basic human decency toward all faiths and beliefs?

I want you guys to ask them what brand of Christianity they want in school. Penticostal? Mormon? Jehovah’s Witnesses? Lutheran? There are over 3000 types of Christianity.

I love the hypocritical right believing in their "family values, " while electing a man who's been married three times, divorced twice, bore children with all three, has committed adultery, more than once. What happened to their holier than thou "family values?" It's the epitome of hypocritical.

It amazes me how Christian Nationalists forget one of the main reasons America was founded in the first place: the freedom of religion. It was so the people had the right to practice Protestant Christianity as the Catholic Church had such a hold on Europe politics that it was considered illegal.

If these people abolish the separation of the Church and the State, then we are going to have a similar situation. There is a reason they kept the Church and the State separate.

“Your framing me”
No, you just don’t want to give the only answer your dogma leaves you.
Because you feel just how evil it is.

What if native peoples here in America insisted settlers HAD to accept their beliefs to live here?

As a christian, i believe there NEEDS to be a separation of church and state. Power corrupts, and we already see so many churches led astray by bad people twisting religion to control others and make themselves feel good about doing evil, using it as an excuse to be cruel and hateful to others even as they ignore the actual teachings. And also, they should be taxed

It astounds me that these people get so worked up about Christian nationalism, and yet they can't seem to come right out and admit that it would oppress others. They don't want to admit that. How can you call a country a "Christian" country and then say that religion is a personal choice..
