Mayo Clinic unveils new mobile health clinic

(ABC 6 News) - As a way to improve health care access for those in rural communities across southern Minnesota, Mayo Clinic Health System unveiled its new mobile health clinic.

The mobile clinic includes two exam rooms and an onsite laboratory bringing health care directly to patients, for in-person care or virtual care via the onsite telehealth equipment.

"Will have service available where a patient will be able to have an appointment with a provider, that we have here, as well as be able to use services on the unit to have telemedicine visits with other providers, and those providers could be in Owatonna they could be in Albert Lea,, they could be at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester," said Dr. Jason Wray-Raabolle, Site Lead Physician, Mayo Clinic Health System in Owatonna and Faribault.

The mobile unit provides the following services:

preventative services
chronic disease checks
warfarin management
wellness visits
pediatrics
acute illness and infection
virtual prenatal visits
virtual pacemaker checks
virtual specialty consults.
Immunizations and vaccinations, including Covid-19 vaccinations
The mobile health clinic will travel to communities across southern Minnesota. Mayo says it will add stops to the mobile clinic when they identify the needs in rural communities.
