Whether you like it or not, over the past few years we’ve had some huge storylines. Would Mbappe go to Madrid, was Ronaldo right to give that interview and was a lasagna really to blame for Spurs in 2006. If you struggle to keep going with your career mode, adding storylines to your save can give you that reason you need to keep playing.

You might not know what a storyline is, how to find them, how to make your own or why they're even fun, but that's exactly what we’re going to look at in today's video. By the end, you’ll be able to use them like a pro, and i can promise, you’ll enjoy your career modes even more going forwards.

There should be an AI career mode story generator for every career mode in every sports game from every year trained on data from that season.

One that I always circle back too is behavioral suspensions. Like a person who is playing well gets suspended for a game because he shows up late to practice a few times in a row.

A longer story line that is happening for me right now is to promote a youth player and develop him to be so good he becomes the club's captain. Another one I'm still struggling to make happen is having a full starting XI of only academy players in a league and/or UCL winning season.

I appreciate these videos so much as they have rejuvenated my career mode which needed some shaking up given I've been playing FIFA 14 since it came out. I recently completed a road to glory with Kaizer Chiefs and now started a new career mode with Chivas USA.

Its by far the most complicated career mode I've done as it has a lot of the MLS restrictions. I like long save so it's another road to glory where I aim to with everything with the US national team.

I have a maximum wage budget of about 160k per week. I have a wage cap of 22k per player. My maximum squad size is 25 players. I know the MLS is 20 but I need to keep a lot of youths for the national team. I also have 3 DP spots and have set myself a max wage of 77k per week for the DP players. I have to accept bids from any club in the big European leagues. Players that demand wages outside the limits are also sold as soon as possible. I've also recently started keeping records of goals, assists clean sheets and games played etc (cause EA can't even be bothered to even in 2023) in order to keep track of which players contribute to the club and picking captains etc.

Transfer windows are hectic trying to keep up with all the information balancing the books before the window closes while also trying to maintain a very lean but balanced team. It's quite interesting.

It's too bad the MLS doesn't have relegation cause that's another dimension I want to add to this complex career mode.

I don't know if any of these two are in your site but here are the challenges we thought about based in real life things

One I call the Neuer, which is you goalkeeper had a skiing accident and is now out for the season.

And the other was my brothers idea based on Son, which is your Korean player(s) has to go to do his military service so you can't use hin for a month (you pick the timeframe)

Like my most recent save is with Raul Albiol he retired after season 1 and managed villareal B before managing the likes of RB Salzburg, fenerbache and now currently SL benfica and Portugal national team. Notable parts of the save was Aston villa buying my 84 rated keeper for £80.4M so I bought the Georgian keeper from valencia for £50M also KDB at 36 years old joined on a free transfer on a 3 year contract and is playing a big role. My teams are usually a mix of old and young players also getting van dijk, lucas hernandez in for cheap deals

I usually just use those insane board objectives to form my storylines. I’ve turned over most of my stars more than once during a long save.

Been exclusively using my youth academy and seeing my players develop makes the rebuilds so rewarding.

Bro I remember having a celtic save that went 15 seasons. My manager was a female and I married Heung min son, I signed him. MF had 57 rating 😂 and i kept sending him on a loan on crap teams around the world paying 100% his 100 eur per week salary, because I won every season (no surprise) nobody was bothered with that but I ended up fourth at my last season, I didnt "retired" I was found guilty of a massive corruption case hahahah

The closest thing I’ve ever done to a storyline is a self-imposed rule that if I signed Theo or Lucas Hernandez, I would have to sign the other player as well

On my road to glory saves if I’m in the second tier of whatever league I accept offers from all champions league clubs because realistically if a championship teams star player gets an offer from United they’re gonna want to go.
