I've been listening to this song since the '70s, cried when I first heard it, crying now. Something about Levi Stubbs' voice that always moved me.
I learned years ago that he and Jackie Wilson were cousins! Some serious genes in that family. Levi was a stand up guy and a real class act...he stuck by his band mates when he was asked to go solo, married to his wife for over four decades. The Four Tops were always my favorite Motown group. Still Waters and Only the Lonely always make me cry - now especially --- because they remind me of many friends from that era who are no longer here - left us way too soon. We were all huge fans of the Motown sound. Levi had one of the best voices to ever come out of America period! RIP Levi Stubbs. Your music left us with many wonderful memories.

I never got to say goodbye to my Dad, he passed during summer of 2020, due to cancer and because of covid, we wasn't able to be in the hospital when he passed. He wanted this song at his funeral and this was his last message for us.
