Oakland Launches New Free Disposal Program To Help Curb Illegal Dumping

Oakland is trying yet another solution to its longstanding problem with illegal dumping. The latest move is asking residents to dump their trash, legally, at a facility in San Leandro. Wilson Walker reports. (11/15/21)

It's not only people who are moving out of a home. I'll bet some laborers who are paid to properly haul stuff from jobs within Oakland and surrounding suburbs, pocket the money and dump in Oakland or wherever. They think the homeless will pick through it.

Landfill fees are too high which is why people just dump debris on city streets in a Tragedy of the Commons come to life. The city has to cart it away at high cost to the taxpayer. Might as well make it free to dissuade illegal dumping

When I lived in Albany, a town north of Oakland, waste management would pickup bulky trash 2x per year for each household. Why not do the same for all east bay communities? Instead of putting up enforcement cameras that will cost money to have someone monitor …

So is it FREE for EVERYONE ? because i live in san leandro and the last time i took a mattress to the davis st dump it cost me $80. If its not free for all then OAKLAND should build there own land fill. Oh wait OAKLAND IS A LAND FILL. HAHA
