LEAN BITES: MILESTONE REVIEW
A "bite sized" demonstration on Milestone Reviews.
Milestones are specific important points along the timeline of a project or improvement activity.
A review is where key stakeholders formally check the progress of the project (actual vs expected) according to pre-determined criteria, that the activity is delivering against expectation before we head too far down the wrong path. The review can also be called a “tollgate” or “checkpoint” whereby the activity doesn’t continue unless the milestone has been satisfactorily met.
While you might be familiar with milestone reviews in a DMAIC project, it has also significant advantages applying it to more simpler improvement activities.
Also, by undertaking the review, we respect the team & the activity, focusing on achieving maximum benefits (achieving the right outcome), whilst eliminating waste or errors.
Other benefits include: ensuring the deliverables are on track, any potential roadblocks are cleared and the activity doesn’t prematurely progress.
I’m sure you’ll find very helpful.
