I made several out of oak 1” thick X 1 3/4” I did the first set clamping as you did eliminating the negative form, but the clamps distorted the inner surface significantly. So I did two at the same time, using both the positive and negative forms and clamped with pipe clamps. I got a perfect result using your 10% over arch for spring back. No surface damage at all. It bent quite easily. I soaked two days, steamed 1.5 hrs, cooled two days. But thanks for getting me started.

That worked out great, with very little spring back. I was expecting a lot more. May have to try steam bending when I start on my rocker build.
