So today's car is a strange one - it's a hybrid and all you need to do is pump petrol like any other car. It's the Nissan Serena e-Power! Watch Julian and Jon bring out their family man personas to judge this big MPV for its practicality, and to see whether its unique setup under the hood is something you'll get used to.

Almost 20 minutes of video length, I'm still watching this video at normal speed.

Seriously informative, entertaining and not boring. Easy to understand slang.
One comment though. Could improve on color grading and video editing.

This would have been an epic review long term.

what if you leave the serena e-power in the car park for 2 weeks, would the battery go flat?

No one mention how much does it cost for maintainace if the battery power the e-engine were to die with all the charging.

Guys thanks for your time. Is there a video on the battery system and it’s maintenance ? Also since the introduction of this model is there any technical issues ?

Please do a review of Honda Stepwagon Spada or just a comparison review of this Serena with the car. The Spada is really a gem in this category, winning Serena in most aspects except for FC.

Hello my hands free access to the sliding doors are disabled. How do I get it to open and close with my foot again? They work from the buttons on the dashboard and on the door but no hands free using my foot.

Wait... weird that theres a loud engine rev sound when the driver floored the accelerator at the 10:42 mark when the engine is not connected to the wheels directly.

Thanks guys, Watched this in 2021, and now i am firmly convinced to buy this vehicle. The conventional engine over-humming can be anticipated with additional sound proof in the engine room.

It would be great if you do Noah Hybrid comparison with Nissan Serena

a bit irrelevant question, but where is the first segment of the video shot?

You have to be quiet when saying about the growling noise or quiet charging to see and hear the difference.

How is the service of this car? Does it require a special mechanic as its a hybrid

Noise from the petrol generator annoying ⁉️🤔
I'm surprised you are not already used to it by the noise the DC fan from your ICE is making 😅‼️
Series hybrids sounds very exciting. A 1.5 kWh battery replacing the cumbersome mechanical transmission along with the differential. Way to go👏👏👏👏 ‼️
I only wish there was 60/40 front row seating arrangement by taking advantage of the electric power needing no gear selector. 60/40 second row seating I think the not so luxuriously appointed versions are already offering.
Wonderful review 😉🙏

How is the sound insulation? Will the engine sound become super loud at high speed >100km/hr?

E power : fast
Hybrid : slow
E power : less fuel consumption
ICE : more fuel consumption
E power : dont need charging station
EV : need charging station

For a review of a hybrid, conspicuously missing is the discussion on fuel consumption.

Another great review!
In a way it's similar to BMW i3 rex system (but Nissan has 4x the power from petrol, and a battery that is 20x smaller ...and no plug).

I love the one-pedal regen on our i3, and glad Nissan does same.👍
Also love the limitless range of having a generator built in (even though we've only used 28 liters in 14, 000km of driving)

Here in western USA, most have access to plug (garage built-in to detached homes). Nissan system is perfect for those who don't have plug access.

This epower also solves the CVT issues that Nissan suffered.

Problem in USA: 30% of people are adamantly opposed to any electrification (mostly out of lack of familiarity).
A smaller portion of population won't accept ANY form of petrol range extender on Electrics due to their militant cultism regarding EVs.

something nice would be if it charges when u r parked n away from ur car. So top up petrol and it can charge n drive if u want, but also charge when u r away
