Individual named in US indictment in Pannun case 'no longer employee of Indian govt,' confirms MEA

The US authorities have alleged that Indian official 'Vikas Yadav', Nikhil Gupta were involved in the killing of Khalistani Terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. Notably, the US Justice Department claimed that an Indian Govt employee (named CC-1) recruited Nikhil Gupta to hire a hitman to kill Pannun. As per the claims, the accused Nikhil Gupta is an associate of an employee of the Indian Govt who plotted the murder of Pannun in New York City. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun is an India-designated Terrorist who holds both American and Canadian citizenship. Meanwhile, the MEA downplayed all the allegations, stating that the individual is no longer an employee of the Indian government. Notably, India, in November last year, formed a high-level inquiry committee to address the security concerns highlighted by US Govt. The US State Department Spokesperson, Matthew Miller, also expressed satisfaction with India's cooperation in the investigation. A federal arrest warrant has been issued by the US authorities against Vikas Yadav (or CC-1), whereas Nikhil Gupta is currently in US' prison
