Ford sold 2.7 million vehicles in the U.S. in 2017....This guy should have at least that many subs.

Thanks so much, I just completed my 8 check balls installation in about 3 hours with no lift. Yep one of them was smaller than the others and one had split into three pices. I was lucky to find all the small pieces, Your video made the job easy and cheap with the biggest expense being the fluid.. The transmission now shifts like new, with more power to the wheels. Past symptons were fast shifting along with 1st and 2nd gears trying to engage at the same time. Thanks again and glad it is fixed!

Your tutorials are the greatest. Thank you. My '04 3v 5.4 Triton lost Overdrive at 140, 000 miles. I'm re-watching your 4R70E vids to get the guts to drop the valve body.

I always switch out the metal check balls, used in the GM Trans such as the 4L60/65/70E, with Sonnax Torlon Check Balls. They are some type of plastic that is very strong. Problem with the metal check balls is they pound the separator plate and embed themselves into the plate causing the clutches to burn, or not shift. I also like to use TransGo Hardened Separator Plates whenever possible. Much stronger plate, as well as modified holes for better shifting for longevity.

This just confirmed my problem with my 2004 F-150 with the 5.4 Triton. She's got 276, 000 miles and had the transmission valve body replaced about two years ago by a local shop that's been around for many years. It just started the very low idle at a stop, but comes back to normal idle if I put it in Neutral. Time to give that shop a call... Thank you FordTechMakuloco!

Thanks for this video! Did this on my 2009 Grand marquis LS with 60k on it. You described the symptoms perfectly and with this video I was able to complete the repair myself. This video saved me $2, 200. The transmission shop wanted to sell me a rebuilt transmission.

You Sir are incredible!!!!
You truly care about your customers and the fellow man.
Just a wealth of knowledge who isn't insecure about sharing it due to the paranoid syndrome of "putting you out of work"

Absolutely priceless. Really. It is an easy fix, but I never would have contemplated it without your clear demonstration here (and your other 4th gear video involving the valve body). I just did this to my 2007 f150. My #7 ball was split and lodged in the plate. I had the 'sense' to check the overdrive accumulator snap ring, which had both ears...(but, I actually know that now)
I checked out some other videos and put some sonnax upgades, a new plate and gaskets. (the 'since you're in here' effect)
And, of course, you're right about the thing driving like new. I'm blown away and feel like a genius. I spent maybe three hundred for everything - including fluid/filter. Thanks so much! You have no idea.
effin' sweet dude...

You are awesome! Learned so much from you too and saved thousands of dollars watching your videos. Did a timing job on my 5.4 triton watching your video. Keep up the great work!!

Just did this job in our shop today. Just FYI, it took 11 quarts of Merc V to fill up. Dry spec. is 13 quarts on complete overhaul. Removing valve body must allow everything except lower half of convertor to drain.

Steel balls over time hammer the plate. I use the 4R100 balls. Never had an issue. Great videos dude..

Thanks for letting us know. Once again you are a huge help for shade tree mechanics everywhere.

Steel checkballs have the tendency to dig in to the separator plate. I have seen it many many times in different trannys. A plastic or composite ball do not do that and it is also lighter and can move/seal quicker than steel. Rubber seal great but obviously vear. I vould stick to plastic or rubber anyway

Best video yet had mine rebuilt lost 4th gear and when you slow down to turn into a parking lot the engine tries to stall getting down to about 400rpm causing very hard steering!!! I thought the pwr steering pump was going out but from all the research this video has shown me all my problems are coming from the This video needs to be widely shared @@!!!
