The Importance of the Glion Alumni Network

In the final video of this interview trilogy, recent MSc alumna, Clotilde Fonteny, points out the importance of the Glion alumni network and how this international family helped her during her studies and beyond.

She also talks about the Alumni digital platform that helps students and alumni connect easily and keep in touch when travelling or working on business projects.

Glion Spirit is in her DNA and she tries to explain this familiar feeling and share it with the ones who never experienced it.

If I have to define the Glion Spirit,
I would say that it’s something big,
something emotional,
and something about the people that
you will meet, something about
the work environment,
something about the nationalities, the networking,
and something that will happen when
you will arrive and it’s like and atmosphere.
And even when we have left the campuses,
after your graduation, you will still have
the Glion Spirit with you.
Something that you will keep during
your whole life, and it will continue with
the Glion alumni and all the different
events that are organized.
The alumni network is really important.
Wherever you will go, you will have
someone who did Glion.
So you can go in London, go to Four Seasons
for example, and you can ask
if someone did Glion and you will meet students
who are currently working there.
You can go to Geneva and in any hotel
you can ask for Glion alumni.
You can go to Tokyo as well, or wherever
you will go, you can meet someone,
and if you just ask if there is anyone
in the company who did Glion,
you will find someone.
Something really huge and it’s all about networking.
So sometimes you will go somewhere
and you will not be aware that
someone did the same cursus as you.
We had the opportunity to have a
Glion platform for alumni.
It’s something really big and in the beginning
I was not even aware how many students
went to Glion and finished their cursus
in Bachelor or Masters.
This platform is really useful, you just have
to log in and you will see everyone
with their name, position…
so really something big.
The Glion Alumni platform, we used it
during my second semester because we had
the opportunity with one of my teachers to
go to New York for an international competition,
the STR competition.
With another students from BBA
(we were one team of BBA students and one
team of Master students),
we had to organize our trip with the help of the school.
So what we did is we contacted some alumni
who are currently working in New York
and we asked them for help,
so they helped us to find a hotel, they told us
if we can contact someone else and some of them told us
“come and visit us, it would be a pleasure
to welcome Glion students in New York”,
so it’s something really important
that every student will maybe use or need.
