Показать описание
This video covers part one of the genetics section of the USMLE First Aid textbook. Basic terminology will be covered in this video:

Gene expression modifications:
- knock-in, and knock out (insert or remove a gene)
- random insertion: constitutive expression (a gene that is always on)
- targeted insertion: conditional expression (a gene that can be turned on or off at will)

Cre-lox system:
- turning genes off or on by an external stimulus to study gene at developmental points

RNA interference:
- miRNA (MicroRNA) - blocks mRNA translation leading to degradation
- siRNA (small interfering RNA) - an exogenous source that binds to specific mRNA leading to cleavage of mRNA before translation

Codominance:
- both alleles are expressed

Variable Expressivity
- can have the same genotype but different phenotypes

Incomplete penetrance
- not all mutants show the phenotype

Pleiotropy
- one gene makes multiple phenotypic effects

Anticipation
- increases the severity of the disease

Loss of Heterozygosity
- cancer requires mutation of the tumor suppressor gene AND complementary gene deletion/ mutation

Your tone of voice is not good for teaching. it seems that you are reading like the journalist reading the news! Please let the other friend (the one who has recorded videos on PCR, Blotting, FISH, Karyotyping, etc) to record the videos with his voice. He says in a way that people understand. Thank you.

Hi. This video is really cool! I've been trying to search for a video similar to yours that really informs the ideas in this vid!Your tip really is similar to the channel of Doctor Ethan. Doctor Ethan's tips are educational and I actually learned a lot for finals! He is the most knowledgable medical student on YouTube and he teaches medical school.

Go see his page out and give the health enthusiast a like! ➡️ #LearnFromDrEthan
