It’s true, buying an Hermes Birkin or Kelly from the store may be the least expensive option, however you can’t just walk into the store and buy one (except for a few very rare occasions). You’ll have to develop a relationship with a sales associate that takes time and a lot of additional purchases to show you are a valued client.

Rather than looking preloved as the prices can be 2-3x or more the retail price of a newer style, consider a vintage version like my Kelly 28 in box leather from the late 70s. Prices still vary depending on the condition and where you buy, and the market has gotten more expensive in vintage bags over the past several years, however you can still find some gems if you are patient and do your homework!
