My Postpartum Fitness Journey...*EXACTLY* What I Did (0-16 Weeks)

Don't forget fevers as a warning sign, too. Some women get low-grade fevers and not pay attention until they are really sick from an infection. Listening to your body is extremely important after you give birth.

The scariest thing was going to a physical therapist 6 months postpartum and being suddenly surprised that NONE of my pelvic floor or abdominal muscles would talk to me. They felt absent. I was surprised when the PT asked me to do a bridge and I flat couldn't. 6 weeks of physical therapy brought back the communication, and while I still don't think I really feel all those muscles the same way, I definitely feel them engaging when I instruct them to now; thank goodness and my physical therapist.

The fact that you work super hard postpartum but ALSO encourage everyone to listen to their own bodies makes me feel so encouraged 🥰 thank you for being an inspiration

And it is different for every post partum period. After my first, it took nearly 3 months to physically feel up to any exercise apart from belly breathing and gentle stretching. After my third, I was completely building a 1000 sqft garden at 4 weeks post partum. Eating healing whole foods and resting. Low stress.

The biggest struggle for me will be getting rest. Gotta be careful not to try to bounce back to regular workout routine too soon.

My midwife recommended the first 3 very clearly and my recovery was so much easier than my first 😊
i also did more deep core work during that pregnancy.

As a nanny of 3 kids and 21 weeks pregnant- I CANNOT wait to lay in bed for a week or two 😅

I wish I would’ve made it ABUNDANTLY CLEAR that I was allergic to latex. The L&D nurses used latex catheters on me and it gave me a horrible reaction on top of vaginally birthing a 9 lb 4 oz baby. I was messed up downstairs.

In Germany me call women that just gave birth Wöchnerrin. It's derived from week and an ending signaling a female person. Staying in bed for a week after birth was Even in the middle ages comen enough that a word for it made it into our language. So pls even without health insurance rest after giving birth

Rest is my biggest struggle. I can't stay in bed. I have 6 kids. I am currently 2 weeks postpartum. My oldest is 8. Staying in bed isn't an option.

I was so ready for that rest week.. however my daughter was born premature and stayed in the NICU so I had to go to the hospital everyday in order to see her.. so my recovery was all kinds of what not to do lol I had an emergency C-section and once I was discharged from the hospital, I left prior to 48 hours cause I hated my nurse, they never had any wheelchairs available so I walked every day, but I believe that actually helped me to recover faster

These are the type of videos that I couldn’t watch at all but I commented anyway 😅

Oh gosh yeah that floppy feeling immediately PP cause your core is shot. I felt like it was only my back and spinal column keeping me upright till the core came back online.

You would have been told to rest. So very untrue

C-section mamas, please take the medication they prescribed you for pain. I know it’s hard to do and it feels awful on it but your baby needs you and it will help!!

Rest and sleep sort of go hand-in-hand. Hopefully other mamas don’t get a colicky baby because this really messes with… well, everything. But especially recovery.

I just realized not sleeping as in a new mother who is constantly woken up by a hungry baby i think she means that
