If flush was needed then good, but stronger if you would have simply cut the inside 45° and welded all sides and top and bottom of over laps.

This is pure magik right here. I normally shape my corners with a hammer or brick. Who knew you could cut it?

Two principles you would like to apply in all welds --> Maximize contact between the pieces, and weld Freshly exposed metal, using the weld to actually melt the edges to mix with the new material. Otherwise you are Soldering, not WELDING>

You know those little lines on that flat thingy that you were marking on and then changing and marking on the steel You can use those as the marks instead of drawing them and you can just remember and then you can move it down and then you can just mark the other piece of steel they're called rulers That's what those lines are for
