Tokwe & the Elephants Trumpet & Run to Khanyisa as They Notice Her Missing

Adine meets up with the elephants in the bush on a recent afternoon, arriving by car, and Khanyisa sees (smells/hears) her and runs over to her. Suddenly the rest of the herd realise the calf has run off and they spot her and react immediately— trumpeting, rumbling and gathering around Khanyisa. Adine hardly has time to get out her phone to film the moment!

Tokwe is especially concerned and attentive as she inspects Khanyisa and wraps her trunk around her, picking up any scent or chemical messages they can give off.

In this way, Tokwe can determine if the calf is ok, by touching and inspecting the hormones in Khanyisa’s urine / nether regions with her trunk and deciphering them by placing her trunk back in her mouth, by her Jacobson organ which helps her read any chemical clues.

Lundi, Jabulani and Bubi are all part of the group huddled around Khanyisa and Adine. As soon as they calm down and realise everything is secure, the herd head off together, back into the bush and trees to forage.

Tokwe is such a wonderful Matriarch She is so responsive as soon as there is a small grain of sand that disrupts the harmony of her Herd all the more so when it comes to little Miss Pink or the youngsters Then all members of the pack come running to huddle around the presumed endangered Ellie What a life lesson ❤🐘❤

What a wonderful elephant family sweet Khanysia has to watch over her, protect her and also to always stay close to her too.❤️🐘 and especially her adopted mom too. Also the elephants too calmed down as soon as they noticed it was you Adine and when they heard your voice and understood that you were letting them know and Khanysia know too that it was all alright then they all calmed down and started walking on which I thought was so cool.🥰❤️👏🏻👏🏻🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘. Khanyisa will never forget Adines nurturing love and care and the love and care and nurturing from the dedication of that lovely man the carer who stayed with her throughout lockdown and I'm sorry his name slips my mind at the minute, however i still see his face. He is awesome. she was so frightened and wounded so terribly as well as losing her birth mummy elephant and i believe each elephant has a special bond with Adine and the carers.

Wow. It must be the most secure, solid and loving feeling to have the Herd instantly protect you no matter hoq many humans are around, or no matter the threats. . Yesterday Tokwe was protective of Tinisa, now Khanysia. What a superb family they are.

As soon as Tokwe and the rest herd your voice and saw you they knew. Meisiekind is so attuned to you, Adine. And she always comes running over to you. The love she has for you knows no bounds. And Towke, Lundi, Bubi, Jabu and Limpopo all know it and respect it. It's just that initial "where did she run off to?" that causes a stir, but quickly returns to peace.
