Dear GED Service: A student of mine just concluded the RLA test, and she said the extended response was NOT like any of the ones on which we have focused–it was only one article, and the prompt was not (essentially) “choose the better supported side and analyze why.” I didn’t get the chance to quiz her about it in more detail, but it sounded like a VERY different kind of writing task from what the students are led to expect, especially given the sample prompts and source material you have available, not to mention the focus in the video. Can you illuminate this at all, please?

It appears that all of the sample responses given for the GED essay are written by graduate students and or exceptional GED candidates. I have taught GED classes at two community colleges for 25 years. Since the 2014 changes, I have never had a GED student that would be able to duplicate the sophistication of the "sample" essays that receive a perfect score, much less a lower score!

I took my GED rla test today and while I was finishing my Extended response essay the time was done before I press SUBMIT !!!! Please be careful y'all, I scored 0/2 and I failed because of that :(

Would you guys ever consider putting captions on these? I've been trying to watch in class but since I dont have earbuds it's pretty hard to without bothering others, and I'd imagine others might have these problems too

Hi! I am watching and listening the video, the point and plan is good but it is not easy for me to focus with the music, is very loud in the video, bother me a lot, next time should be better if the music's volume is lower than the voice over. Thank you!
