Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Lisa and Eric Pizzi are parents to twins who were born in 2012 at 29 weeks. Lisa’s daughter, Scarlett, spent 54 days in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). Her brother, Grayson, stayed in the BWH NICU for 103 days. Lisa also experienced complications after the birth of her children. In this video, Lisa and Eric share helpful advice on working with your family's NICU care team.

The Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Brigham and Women’s Hospital offers the most advanced care possible to newborns with critical and unique health challenges. Our state-of-the-art NICU is the largest in Massachusetts, providing expert newborn care for nearly 3,000 premature and seriously ill babies and their families each year. Our NICU team provides care for babies in all of the highest risk categories: those who are mildly or extremely premature, have one or more major structural abnormalities, serious inherited disorders, or life-threatening birth asphyxia (lack of oxygen around the time of birth). We care for babies born at BWH and others that come by helicopter or ambulance transfer for the most advanced NICU care that can be provided.
