In 2019, 31 Victorians were killed not wearing a seatbelt, and in the 2018/2019 financial year, 13,000 Victorians were fined for not wearing a seatbelt.

It has been estimated that wearing a properly adjusted seat belt reduces the risk of a fatal or serious injury by up to 50%.

August 2020 also marks the 50 year anniversary of the introduction of mandatory seatbelt wearing legislation in Victoria.

The well remembered Bend Your Knees Katie campaign serves as a reminder to Victorians of how important it is to wear a seatbelt while in a vehicle.

Feel like more older ads need to be remade like this to get the message across. It doesn't seem to deter some drivers mainly the younger drivers who think they can get away with anything.

These kind of ads need to be brought back, and they need to be even more shocking, it helps get the message across

I think you should bring back all the old TAC ad’s.

Stupid how people don’t buckle up, it should be second nature by now. I’ve buckled up ever since I was born, it’s like breathing, I do it without knowing I’m doing it

TAC actually needs to start making ads like these again, no suger coating, they need the realistic shock factor.

Something to note is that that accident could've been a lot worse for her.
