There's one thing I kind of disagree with. Example two suggests, that some content has been lost, so the delivered message is incomplete, or even damaged in some way. It's not the case with mp3/ogg/mpc formats, because about 0, 1% of human ears can tell the difference between lossy 256 VBR mp3 and lossless FLAC, whereas 100% of people you ask will be able to easily tell the difference between the two texts you presented for lossy compression.
