A childcare that is decent and pays attention to your child is nearly $400 a week. Even if all u need is 1-2hrs a day in between parents shifts...

Why should parents have to pay for daycare, preschool, formula, groceries, restaurant meals, clothes, toys, mortgage payments, car payments, gas, car repairs, insurance, etc. for the benefit of their childred?

This piece is missing the MOST important one. It is unaffordable for families and the educators who do the caring for and educating the children are the ones getting squeezed out because the wages are the bottom 4% of all wages and rarely have retirement, health insurance, and even paid days off. I also completely disagree with the private sector stepping up, unless it is in an equitable tax on all employers. We don't need one more thing to tie employees to their employer, larte corporations can easily pass off the cost to consumers and small businesses cannot.
