I personally dont think a new type should be added unless it's NEEDED. Fairy was needed cause dragon was way too strong at the time.

In terms of a "Light type" we got Fairy as a close counterpart, since Fairy dose super effective damage against Dark type already

The issue is the Dark type is not the "absence of light" type, it's the evil type. Remember in Japanese that's what the Dark type is actually referred to as. So light beating dark in this sense wouldn't make much sense

I already can't remember the current Pokémon Type Charts, so as excited as I would be for something like that, I think I'd go crazy

I don't think a lot of people realize that fighting is suppose to be the synergy to dark type. In japanese it's called the evil type. It's less about literal darkness and more about fighting ruthlessly or fighting with dirty tactics or "doing what it takes to win". Like grimmsnarl and false surrender. (Read the description of the move if it helps)

Type chart needs rebalancing. Ghost and dark overlap (super effective against ghost and psychic). Fairy needs more weaknesses, poison needs more strengths, and ice needs more defenses, etc.

Fire and electricity creates light so a light type would be redundant. Sound is already a well established category of moves, turning it into a type would be a major nerf to some pokemon and throat spray would become a one type item. Space isn’t an element, it’s quite literally nothing, so it would be a nothing type. It would probably be immune to everything as a vacuum doesn’t have a body to attack.

imo there aren’t enough Pokemon for each proposed category to justify them existing. that could always change though, I suppose

Fairy is the equivalent of the Light type, and Psychic is already Pokémon’s space/cosmic type. Sound would be really hard to implement as there are a lot of moves with the sound property that can’t really change type like Bug Buzz or Sparkling Aria.

Fun fact: snow muffles sound, so if sound was added we can finally give Ice a second resistance

Dark is the Evil type in Japan. As for Sound, that would deprive Normal of almost every special move it has, and Space is basically already held under Psychic

The thing is that these types are substituted for others already (fairy is already the "light" type, normal is already the "sound" type), and they'd have to make so many changes
