For a detailed look at the various diamond colors, go to:

In this video, we compare various diamonds representative of the commonly purchased color ratings on the GIA scale: colorless (D), near colorless (H) and faint yellow (K).

Some of the most common questions people have when buying a diamond ring are:
How important is diamond color?
Is a H color or K color too yellow for an engagement ring?
Can you see color tint differences between a white D color against a faint yellow K color in real life?
Is D color really better than H or K?
Do you need to go to the best color of D to get a white looking engagement ring?

Well, the best way to determine the answers to these questions is to look at them in various real life environments as I had depicted in the video above.

Do note that the color nuances between the GIA grades are very minute from one grade to another and seeing any differences at all really depends on your own visual acuity.

Once you had viewed the video, leave a comment below and let me know if you can see any differences in body tint at all. And what which diamond color would you personally pick if you were shopping for your own engagement ring.

Ring details (from left to right):
#1: D color round brilliant cut in 18k white gold.
#2: H color round brilliant cut in 14k white gold.
#3: K color round brilliant cut in platinum.

I have an H VVS1 2.15 CT Marquise and you can’t detect any warmth unless I’m in yellow/warm lighting. It’s stunning!

That's a very good video. It helps me to decide to pick H due to the cost. I can tell the color difference, but it is not as bad as I thought. Thanks Paul.

Thanks this has made me believe that colour grade isn't as important as most think it is.

Fantastic Video! I had been going for F,  E, D Diamonds only which were very pricy. With the H Color diamond being very near D color, I can get a later Diamond that looks just as beautiful! Thank you so much for this detailed video!

I was thinking the k would look alot more yellow. For me I would maybe go up to a j or I. I saw a Leo in Kay's that was beautiful and I was shocked to find out it was only an I. Now I know why. Because you can hardly tell the difference. I have learned so much from your videos and website.I feel that I would be able to buy a visually stunning diamond that would fit in my budget because of you thanks.

Nice video--And, yes, I would spend more money on a whiter diamond. I recently purchased an F I1 diamond and it was gorgeous!!! However, I returned it because I was worried the inclusions might cause problems in the future.

Wow! They look almost identical I bought a K color diamond with no fluorescence but it looks very dark in 18k yellow gold almost like light brown it is graded by IGI labs I heard they over grade their diamonds, can you also explain which one of them has faint, medium, or strong fluorescence.

Do any of the diamonds in the video have a fluorescence?
