Thank you for this report, Wilson and Noor. I do wish Noor would have touched on military spending and the lack of accountability from the banking industry behemoths.

Yes, there should be a recall of all of them.

@Jamaal Knight - The most EBT food stamps allowed for anyone per meal was $1.50. But most on food stamps do not get $1.50 per meal (which wouldn't barely cover a tip in a restaraunt). There are many grandmas out there on fixed incomes who only get $17 per month for food. You can't buy much steak or ribs with that. And it isn't animal fat that makes people fat. Its fluoride induced-hypothyroidism, man-made transfats, HFCS, soft drinks, & simple carbohydrates like sugar. (i.e. poor nutrition)

@c3pfett - With these corporations cutting full-time jobs to part-time jobs, people will not be able to get on their feet without working and juggling multiple jobs. Furthermore there are the disabled getting their food assistance cut. As well as the elderly on fixed incomes who are unable to work. There are people who are working but unable to afford a roof over their heads AND food. The price of food is rising. There is no excuse for any American to go hungry. We aren't a 3rd world country.

The increase in SNAP funding back in 2009 was a TEMPORARY measure when it was put in place. Oboma said it then. We as a country can not just keep increasing government social programs. If 10 people pay to help feed 2 people the cost is not to bad. But when 10 people pay to feed 7-8 people the 10 are financial harmed as well. They have to feed their families to. Time to bring back the works programs of the 1930s. Get people working again, this will repair infrastructure and create full time jobs

I think this should be a wake up call for people who been getting food stamps for so long to stop depending on the government and get off your ass and get this money

From what I've read and understand, the House is wanting to cut most people from the program over the next ten years. So...are they gonna offer training programs and a job if they do so?
I'm tired of being poor and would just love a job where I could actually support myself. Food stamps are really important to someone who has almost nothing.

Naw, the UK does it too. We're just not at your level yet.

There were few real differences in the parties during the 1950s and 60s. I don't know what your idea of "recently" is but it's certainly not mine.

we cannot depend on the government nor either political parties.

The the people should elect politicians that look after their interests. You can squirm all you want, these people just didn't show up in Congress and start writing laws. They were elected in an open process supposedly available to ALL citizens.
The US is NOT the only place where this happens, it happens all over the world. In many places corporations and billionaires are openly calling the shots. At least in the US, and I'm certainly not defending it, they have to work through proxies.

To people who are living on SNAP. It is they to temporarily assist, that's all. And yea I know A LOT of people that trade for cigarettes and booze. And the idiots that knew there cards were not working and " bought" 7-12 CARTS FULL when the system was down show you what a lot of them are like. The children? There are bills in place to feed them at the schools

But the politicians who cut Foodstamps DIDN'T LIE. Their agenda was always "cut government spending".
In fact I agree with your point of view, I'm just pointing the finger of blame in the right direction. NOT at the politicians but AT THOSE WHO ELECTED THEM.
IMO if all forms of welfare in the US eliminated you might see some real progress toward a civil society as people woke up the hideous reality of unfettered capitalism.

If this economy last another 5 years I will be surprised. I give it 2 at the most, and a series of political and economic events triggers a paradigm shift in the U.S. and around the world.

Soon we will be seeing more people out on the streets with signs. Every dollar DOES count and even though some want to put blame on the poor, look at how it got there. Less already is put into education and training programs; in my state grants for those needing remedial classes has been cut. Most young people dont understand the value of education until much later in life, and that second chance is becoming stripped from them. I dont even see much put into job training programs.

Food stamps and debit cards benefit big business and agribusiness much more than they feed poor people. I'm happy that some poor people can eat under these programs.. what about having a living wage? Why should average working people subsidize poverty wages at the biggest US corporations and employers? Think about it.

These cuts are the direct result of the will of the people of the US as expressed in their last Congressional elections. This is not the fault of the politicians who are simply doing the job the voters hired them to do. This includes the people whose benefits will be cut. I have little sympathy for their hardships, if they had been more careful with their votes they wouldn't be suffering.
