Alabama Shakes are one of those bands that, just when you think popular music has sunk as low as possible, they come along and yank it out of the mud and let you know there are still amazing musicians out there. That's the way they made me feel years ago when I heard them for the first time.

Northern Alabama has such a rich history in Rock, Blues, Country, and R&B. Check out the documentary "Muscle Shoals". The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, George Michael, Wilson Pickett, Willie Nelson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Joe Cocker, Levon Helm, Paul Simon, Bob Seger, Rod Stewart, Cher and Cat Stevens all went to Northern Alabama to record at Muscle Shoals.

Brittany absolutely rocks. My favorite performance of hers is doing Springsteen's "Adam Raised a Cain" at a Springsteen tribute, and blowing Springsteen away with his own song. This girl is such a badass.

I was wondering when you would give Alabama Shakes a listen. They originated in Limestone county Alabama. I am in west Madison county and county line about 1 mile away (butts up against this county). Limestone county is just the other side. She is so talented on guitar to boot.
