Investigators comb through wreckage of South Korean plane crash as families mourn victims

Uncertainty prevails over the cause of the deadliest air disaster on South Korean soil. Authorities have said a potential bird strike may have contributed to the Boeing 737-800 crash landing but some experts have questioned this, saying videos before the crash show an absence of landing gear. There were only two survivors among the 181 people on board Jeju Air flight 7C2216 which exploded after landing at Muan International Airport. Devastated relatives gathered at the airport while the process of identification continues.

Unless you are doing a crash test on the runway, why is there even a barrier at the end of of the runway?

Why is barely any news outlets talking about the massive stone wall surrounding the runway and the concrete wall imbedded with dirt that the plane collided with. The pilot had the choice between stone wall and a concrete wall with some dirt hiding it.
Not a single person in charge of that airport thought that stone structures straight of a runway would lead to a collision of this magnitude

My first thought about a concrete wall being there was that it was put in place to prevent further casualties because it might be a city district with buildings and apartment complexes. Turns out, it is practically empty space beyond that concrete barrier! No idea why it was put in place!

From watching the available footage. Loss of life was due to impact with a concrete fortified structure. We can all see that.

I saw a report interviewing some expert that the pilot did his best in the situation with the belly landing and that wall isn't supposed to be there, it should only be used if the weather is bad and not with a concrete. That obstruction is the reason 179 passengers and crews are dead. SK media should atleast report this, they all blame a bird for the crash. Many aircraft survived even having a bird strike. sk Media outlets are silent about that wall.
They have to explain this well.

I would understand a chain fence but a giant stone/conrete wall…. Why on earth would you build that at an airport and at the end of a runway to make things worse.

Blaming the birds when there's literally a video showing how the plane only exploded after hitting the concrete "mound"

Not an expert but that fking wall is literally the cause of crash. Even if there was a bird, the plane had already landed and was skidding on land, if it had been a longer stretch of land, the plane would have eventually come to a stop despite not having landing gear. The plane crashed into the wall and exploded.
