Sparta Greece History and Cartography (1793)

Sparta Greece history and cartography is explored and examined from this vintage map that was originally produced in 1793. In the video we'll zoom in and look various historical aspects that make this map so great! In the video we also discuss a brief history of Sparta relating to the dominant military fighting styles, training and their culture within Greece. I also mention that if you've not seen the film 300, its worthy of a watch as it contains many accuracies to the battle of Thermopylae between Persia and Sparta involving the 300 Greek warriors.

At the battle of Thermopylae (The Hot Gates) . Weren't there a couple thousand Greek soldiers there that helped in the lines, & protected Spartan backs from a rear attack as well..Untill the third day when they were getting over run by Persians from the rear . Then the Spartans told them that they would hold out till the last man & gave their fellow Greeks the opportunity to strategicly withdraw over a thousand of thier troops & that is why the Spartans were remembered there . That they never retreated, would stand till the last man and fight, and gave one of thier 3 Kings in that battle to not only just help to give the other Greeks a chance to retreat & live . But also send a message back home, and get Sparta in to the war along side thier brothers in arms against Persia, and unite Sparta with all the other Greek tribes to fight together as one nation ....Greece . Just saying think the rest of Greece was ready to go to war with Persia, as their actions in helping protect another nation (Crete ?) from invasion, was the reason the King and Persia attacked them & that Leonidas's Tribe was willing to unite with Greece & his stand & death gave the rest of Sparta the reason to unite with the rest of Greece & go to war with Persia . Another cool video Adam . I enjoyed looking at this map . Wasn't it created in the birth year of our Country ?

Nice but sparta- shpata means slope in Albanian word ok its not grek word ok
