Farmer Derek lives and works on the Klingenberg Family farm and ranch. He works with his Dad and two brothers. They raise Corn, Soybeans, Wheat, Cattle, and Cats. They background all the cattle and then graze them in the Flint Hills and they end up at the feedyards in Western Kansas.
The farm was started in the mid 30's by his grandpa who immigrated from West Prussia in 1923 when he was 9.
Growing up, Derek's family priorities consisted of church, family, work, music, and eating a lot. He now has his own family of three cute girls along with his wife Kara. Derek spends his time working on the farm, dancing with his girls, and making YouTube videos.

Farmer Derek, thank you for bringing so much joy, and so many smiles with ur wonderful videos! I also want to thank you for being so kind to ur cattle by allowing them roam free! Serenading ur cattle is still my favorite video! I have turned so many people onto it! Curious... do u use solar on ur trucks and tractors and or biofuels that Wille Nelson is trying to get every farmer and truck driver to use? Saw a documentary on it and many of farmers are now using their own crops as biofuel to power their tractors and trucks, saving them a lot of not to mention helping the environment!! Worth looking into! Your three beautiful little girls have the best Dad and Mom and life! I know being a farmer is really, really hard work but the fact that u also can have fun is really wonderful! Keep ur videos coming! Again, thank you for spreading so much joy with ur videos!

Farmers are usually OUTSTANDING in their feild .

One year dad was OUT DANCING in his field without any clothes on, around his 🚜., .. TRACTOR His friend stopped by and asked him why, because Penticostals shouldn't dance . Seems that the preacher had counselled mom and dad .He had told dad that he should do something special for my mom to ...ATTRACT HER .. .
I think he was saying that dad needs to bathe more . He always smelled like SWET because he worked so hard All the time. My mom had said ..." it's hard to plow for planting, with that kind of smell " ...but I was still born around then.. ...maybe that dancing thing worked after all !
Dad was a little bit autistic and had asked for advice from their pastor . Preachers often were the counselors for many marriages back in the day. I even tried to get Pastor Wayne Taylor's help after my ex falsely accused me of having an affair once, with a sweet young widow at church but she wouldn't show up for the meetings .

Dad used to farm with horses until he bought the tractor before I was born . Grandpa didn't want to compact the soils with the heavy machine when he was still around and the old farmers also Loved their horses . I still remember the old livestock trailer in the barnyard with the wooden spokes .
My dad would always wear his long sleeved shirts, even in the summer and he rolled up sleeves. He started talking about farming once with the team of horses one day . I realized that I learned how to drive on that first tractor as a little boy, pulling the hay wagon while he loaded up. I would even drive to town for candy on it but I never said anything to him .
He would be 104 years old now . He swore that a team of horses are way better than the tractor for pulling heavy stuff like that derrick crane that was built on sled runners . The derrick crane operator would use the team of horses to lift really heavy objects and loads of hay into the barn or huge loose haystacks . My oldest granddaughter Alex, loved the tractor when she was little and she went to the farm with her mom . She would disappear sometimes but I knew where to find her, out climbing on the tractor .

As a boy, I had fun building hay houses with friends from the bailed hay but we never had bails like the ones in the video below . Check out the HAY HOUSE that this guy was building ...


Dad loved the land and the farm with the livestock . It drove him nuts to see his neighbor wasting precious water flooding a sandpit without crops or prepared ground. The guy knew little or nothing about farming but tried to grow grass for a pasture in a huge low area and sand hills by flooding it .
