my thought process on coming up with a new type of panel at conventions! 🤔 #furry #fursuiter #cons

Hear me out.
You find all the raccoon fursuits, cosplay, etc. AND YOU MAKE A TRASH MEET.
Whoever collects the most trash wins something. (Dumb idea but WHO KNOWS)

I just wanna say, Furries are some of the kindest people ever. I had a panic attack at Comic Con and one sat by me and helped me calm down. I lost my friends in the crowd and started to freak out.

I feel this. I’ve been going to anime conventions all my life and it just seems like I get left out on a lot things, such as cosplay groups and some hang outs.
I go to my first fur con, Further Confusion 2019, which is in my hometown, it felt I was going to my first anime convention (nearly a decade ago). Everyone was so welcoming and fursuiters were so nice to me - they didn’t even care if I wasn’t even in a suit.
I feel like going to more cons and meet-ups, than cosplay gatherings.

something that's low key and fun so people don't have to put in a lot of effort but they can have fun with anyone 😅 it's so hard tho lol

Art! This is a community of art lovers. Having a gallery and a spot to make art. Mile high con does this pretty well we have a beloved art community. And while we are a smaller convention most of the time you can meet up with the artists, art enthusiasts and we even have spotlight art making set ups. One year everyone made masks another they painted on tiny canvases. And it's usually pretty cheap art materials but it's pretty awesome. We also have tutorial panels where everyone sits around a table and learns about diffrent effects with diffrent materials. I took a pannel on dnd structure painting. And we painted a little castle as a group.

I live in Japan and never visited conventions yet. But I am planning to visit one in November. Do you guys think that Japanese and American conventions are the same or they differ?

I went to a convention in January and my favorite panel was one where I got to meet an actor in The Walking Dead! There was also a panel where they asked you questions about shows and stuff, it was a comic con and I saw a crap ton of adorable fursuits!

Panel idea. Furry Con Scavenger Hunt/Bingo. Put together a few groups and give them each a color. Put together a large Bingo board and have people try to bring in what is on the board. Whoever can fill out the most wins, and if a team can fill out a bingo, they get Super Win. Maybe allow a certain amount of teams to get a spot on the board before that spot is locked, like first 3 or 4 or 5 teams depending on how many you have set up.

A few ideas I can think of is, take a selfie with someone at Con-ops. Bring up a prop that is a certain type. Bring someone to the front whose fursona is food related. Maybe have a Free Space where you set up bottles of water and someone on the teams have to drink the bottle before the team can start doing the scavenger hunt part.

Heck, if you got a friend that's a staff member, see if they are cool with helping and give them some stickers that upon the teams finding said staff member, they can hand them out as a nice little present for everyone and they have to show it to you to get the point?

This idea puts people into teams with strangers to work together to figure things out. I would say one major rule is, they are not allowed in the dealer's den just so they don't cause havoc in there.

I haven’t been to any furry conventions but have seen a lot of videos. I think one of the most fun things I’ve seen is the musical chair competition. The chaos is amazing.

Anime sewing panel combined with a furry fursuitting panel. It’ll be the knowledge of legends or a messy disaster. Hah~

I use to do anime conventions wit a group of Homestuck cosplayers and we'd do panels. IT WAS unbelievely chill. I think there is still a recording of a cosplay panel that was just a group of teens doing like duck duck goose and red light green light. And Yhea it was like that for most of them.
One of them we pretended we wear part of a traveling Theater Troup AU and we taught different acting games.

I never got that same vibe again UNTIL I went to a furry convention it was so much fun. 10/10nwould recommend

My first thought would be to play games that I would do in drama club/theatre at my school to warm up and have fun as a group together, sort of like team building kind of games. Some may have to be modified to be more fursuit or beginner friendly, but basically you play fun interactive games with each other. Sometimes they’re competitive, sometimes they’re just for fun.

Here’s a little list of some of my ideas (I’ve changed some up from their original ideas just a little to make them a little easier)

1. Try not to laugh (aka Honey, do you love me?)
The basic concept of this game is every participant stands in a circle, and one chosen person who is “it”, stands in the middle of the circle, and has to try to make someone else in the circle smile and/or laugh by asking the person the question “Honey, do you love me?” in a funny way. If the asker is unsuccessful in making the person laugh or smile, the person will respond with “Honey, I love you but I just can’t smile.” Of course, if the responder laughs or smiles, they’ll then become the asker and go in the middle of the circle.
(The phrasing here could be changed if it’s a group of unfamiliar people and someone’s uncomfortable with it, so it can be changed to just a “try not to laugh” sort of game in whatever way you want.)

2. Statue
This game seems simple, but it could get much more difficult with big heavy fursuits on, so it could get much more chaotic. The premise is that you’re all inside a museum in which _you_ are the statues, and there’s a security guard on duty. But these statues aren’t just any statues, they’re known for moving when nobody’s watching. As the security guard, you’re able to roam freely, but you have to try to catch one of the “statues” in the act, so if you see any part of them in motion, they’re caught. As a statue, you can do ANY movement at all, albeit small and subtle, or big and ridiculous. Just don’t get caught! (This is where the difficulty of fursuits presents itself. There’s usually lots of floppy moving parts like wings, tails, etc. that you may not have good control over that will move wether you want them to or not. Hopefully with the more silly the statues are, the more hilarious antics there will be.)

3. Pass the energy ball (or circle)
This game has a couple of versions to it. One involves your hands, and the other involves your voices. In the first game, pass the energy ball, all players will stand in a circle and one person will start out with an imaginary ball of energy that they hold in their hands. This person will then throw it to someone else in the circle, and they’ll try to catch it. You can make the imaginary balls small or large, and they can be fast or slow. You can toss it in the air, or even roll it on the ground. This continues until someone “drops” the ball then they’re out and the circle keeps getting smaller until there’s one player left.

In the second version of this game, everyone still stands in a circle, but this time you use your voices. First you select one person to start making sounds, this person will be the “caller”. The caller will start to give a sound to make. For example, the caller can say “boom, ” “pow, ” or “aah”. Try to make it something clear and easily understood. After the caller makes the sound, the next person clockwise to them will make the same sound. Everyone will take turns to make the sound as fast as possible, ending with the caller being the last person to make the sound.
Then the next person standing beside the caller becomes the next caller and gives a new sound to make. Other participants will take turns to make the sound as fast as possible, up until everyone has taken their turn to be the caller.

Those are just a few simple ideas. There’s lots of other fun and interesting interactive game ideas. Most of these can be easily search for if you look up “theatre game ideas”. I hope this was helpful or informative for anyone!

I have 2:

1. Trinket trading. A lot of Ren-Faires do this and it could be fun

2. Improv Games. This is just fun in general.
